The castle, assigned by testamentary will to the pro tempore Archbishops of Camerino by Princess Maria Sofia Giustiniani Bandini (+1977), consort of the well-known diplomat Count Manfredi Gravina di Ramacca, creates an amazing "residence-museum". It was built in 1488 by Giovanna Malatesta da Varano (+1511) on a medieval fortification and redefined in the second half of the 18th century by the great architect Giovanni Antinori (+1792), working in Lisbon, Rome and Tuscany.

The dwelling is unique in its kind for the decorations, furnishings, the rich collection of paintings, for the experience impressed on it by the Bandinis and in particular by the last owner, of great spiritual and cultural gifts. The philologically scrupulous restorations have not changed the historical, aesthetic and emotional identity of the place, while clever retouches in the setting have enhanced particular pieces and enhanced the atmosphere.
