A natural phenomenon that has always sparked interest in the local population and in the scientific world is represented by the "Stoni" of Fiuminata. The Stoni di Fiuminata are natural springs (resurgences) located on the edge of the fluvial-lacustrine plain of the Potenza River, at the opening of the Quadreggiana Valley; in this area the fine deposits (silts and clays) of fluvial-lacustrine origin, from when the current Fiuminata plain was occupied by a lake, lie on coarse alluvial gravels and debris, coming from the Quadreggiana Valley.
