The area surrounding the Fiordimonte Castle complex is characterized by a mosaic of environments: tree-lined cultivations, abandoned areas, shrubs and natural woods, which form a harmonious semi-natural landscape rich in biodiversity.
In the clearings and uncultivated areas around the walls, the so-called "ruderal" vegetation prevails, represented by clusters of elderberry, mugwort, amaranth, brambles, celandine and other species related to the presence and activities of man.
It is not easy to find ideal astronomical locations within the walls of the castle. Once the already reduced public lighting serving the small urban center is turned off, the entire area of Castello, especially towards the south, however, lends itself to accommodating astronomical positions with absolute ease.
Always with the little public lighting turned off on the occasion of sky observation evenings, the site would be almost safe from light pollution despite being still far from the altimetric altitudes of the Sibillini area, thus guaranteeing effective images of planets and especially of "deep sky objects. “, Less and less within reach of astronomical instruments in the skies of the Marche cities.
