Lago di Polverina

Sito web

-ACCESSIBLE-

Lake Polverina is located between Marche and Umbria, near Camerino, at the gates of the Monti Sibillini National Park. It is an elongated artificial basin formed by the dam of the Chienti river. It has an area of 66.60 hectares and an average depth of 18-20 meters.

Due to its abundance of fish it is much appreciated by lovers of sport fishing and by tourists for the scenery in which it is embedded. The banks, accessible and generally flat, are suitable for nature walks to appreciate the flora and fauna. The lake is in fact located within the "Polverina Wildlife Protection Oasis", which is particularly important for the protection of birds, such as the gray heron, night heron, cormorants, ducks and the great grebe. The white willow also grows there and, on the right hydrographic side, a typical forest vegetation is widespread.
