-ACCESSIBLE-

Hidden in the woods of Monte Ragnolo, at 750 meters. above sea level, in a place where faith and naturalistic beauties are perfectly combined, stands the Sanctuary of San Liberato, reachable along the road that leads to Sarnano.

Here already in 1230 there was a hermitage called Eremo di Monte Santa Maria which housed the Friars Minor and which could be accessed through a small door located to the north that can still be admired today under a beautiful portico.

It was founded by the Lords of Brunforte in 1274 who, in 1330, sold the mountain with the adjacent lands to the community of San Ginesio and thus the whole complex became the property of the Municipality.

During the twentieth century, the convent underwent an important restoration that led it to lose a good part of its historical connotations. Today the Friars Minor of the Lauretana Province reside inside it.

Going up the mountain a little along the asphalted road you reach a vast plateau at 1,300 meters. of altitude called the Prati di San Liberato which seems to trespass into the sky. It is the ideal place for picnics and outings, from which you can enjoy a beautiful view that can get lost up to the Adriatic Sea.
