Pievebovigliana, a small village in the province of Macerata, has an ancient origin: settlements, Neolithic pottery, clay material belonging to the Iron Age, show that primitive men chose the Chienti valley and its tributaries as his home, among which the Fornace, where the history of the town starts.
Those who arrive in Pievebovigliana cannot fail to go up the suggestive streets and stairways of the castle, which constitutes the historic center of the town.
Of the castle, destroyed in 1528, only a few buildings remain, while the ancient structure in the shape of a "vessel" is still clearly legible.
Picturesque and evocative views open up between the houses of the settlement, which retains its medieval urban layout.
In the heart of the historic center, there is the church of Santa Maria Assunta with a crypt dating back to the 11th century.
Inside the town hall it is possible to visit the Pievebovigliana Museum, consisting of a complex of museums.
