There is an exceptional and suggestive river itinerary, full of trees, old fish ponds and ancient fountains, places of the spirit, small once cultivated fields, secret paths and overhanging hollowed out rocks, practically unknown, despite being along the provincial road that leads from Visso to Ussita, close to the stream of the same name. A future full of prospects has therefore opened up for these authentic environmental jewels that were saved almost by a miracle as they were formerly integrated into the patriarchal dimension of some Ussitan families. This is certainly their most original and compelling soul, in which the care of a farm in Visso or Ussita, of a chestnut grove in Montarello and a fish pond along the Ussita stream were an integral part of a family economy. We are talking about fruit, vegetables, trout, sheep and poultry. But the trout part is the one where you should get lost gladly. Don Leone Fiorelli called it a chapter in local history and such it actually is: the familiar fish ponds for uniqueness, location, ecological importance, social and economic position in time, are an endless mine of anecdotes.
