In 1732, having lost the ancient Hall of Shows with the demolition of the Consular Palace, the City Council formed a theatrical condominium that entrusted, in 1740, the construction of the new theater to the Fanese architect Domenico Bianconi, who designed a wooden structure with a "bell" plan, a large stage, three tiers of boxes and a gallery with a balcony with columns. The Teatro de' Condomini was completed and inaugurated in 1747. In 1823 the wooden structure was judged antiquated and insecure due to the danger of fire, so the Theatrical Congregation entrusted the design of a new masonry theater to the young local architect Ireneo Aleandri (1795 - 1885), while the pictorial decoration is entrusted to Filippo Bibiena and Raffaele Fogliardi and the painting cartoons, which adorn the vault and the curtain sketch, are the work of the Sanseverinate painter Filippo Bigioli (1798 - 1878) then made by Raffaele Fogliardi.
