Costafiore lived its best period in the Middle Ages, around 1300. The perched position allowed to alarm in time the underlying town of Muccia. The alarm was launched through the lighting of a brazier placed on a tower, still inhabited today. In addition to the function of a lookout, the town could serve the muccesi as a stronghold in case of invasion. In the village there are two churches, one dedicated to San Nicolo' and the other to the Madonna di Loreto.

Festivity of the Holy Virgin or "Triennial Feasts": three-year religious commemorative festival that takes place over about ten days and, in addition to the purely religious aspect, includes some socialization activities such as card tournaments, riffa and village dinners. Feast of the "ham": this custom is organized following the birth of a child within a local family, the whole country is gathered and the hosts open one or more hams (in case the child is male, if female it is used to open the shoulder) to be offered to guests.
