Serrapetrona is a small village in the province of Macerata, located 500 m above sea level. The term Serra, of Lombard origin, indicates a fortified settlement with functions of barrier to defend the beginning of the stone Petrona valley. To visit in the village: the Church and the convent of San Francesco, which houses the grand polyptych executed at the end from the 15th century by Lorenzo D'Alessandro from San Severino; the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, frescoed by D'Alessandro; the Church of Santa Maria in Piazza, from the 15th century; the Museum of Man, with tools and materials used by the ancient peasant tradition and housed in some rooms of the restored Lombard castle; the Oil Museum; the Gold and Silver Museum of the Church of San Francesco, where about 20 pieces are exhibited including monstrances, chalices, stoles, crucifixes made between the 16th and 18th centuries owned by the parish of San Clemente; the National Art Gallery of Contemporary Sacred Art.

Serrapetrona is part of the national association of wine cities; the territory is renowned above all for the production of Serrapetrona DOC and Vernaccia di Serrapetrona DOCG.
