The Caldarola Antiquarium was refurbished in 2008 in the rooms overlooking the museum area of the Roman villa rustica excavated on the shore of Lake Caccamo. The new exhibition arises from the need to present in a completely renewed way the materials of the Roman age already exhibited, coming from the municipal area as well as the desire to museum the unpublished finds from the archaeological excavations of the villa itself.

The chosen exhibition criterion consists in the division of the finds by classes of materials according to a diachronic order. The first display case displays black-painted ceramics in a series of bowls of various sizes, some of which have graffiti inscriptions inside or outside the vase; six fragments bear the name of the same individual Stn. Rutilio (s) Somios. The engraved inscriptions in Latin date back to the end of the 3rd century BC. and represent the oldest writing documents of the region, documenting an early Romanization of the territory perhaps linked to the presence of a place of worship.
