The church and the attached rectory date back to the Middle Ages. Outside, on the side façade, there is a 14th-century portico, with small octagonal terracotta columns. The symbol of San Bernardino is stamped on the tiles placed in the corners.
In the popular narrative: ”From the church we started with the rogation in Colle San Savino. On Ascension Day, the priest went in procession on Monte San Savino to where the Cross was. In the past, people left to go to the Mount in procession from three different points of Pievebovigliana: from Colle, from the church of San Benedetto, from Roccamaia and from the church of San Giovanni.
