One of the Basque castles, passed to the lordship of the Camerino municipality. In the parish church there is a painting attributed to the Scuola del Perugino (15th century).
The parish church of Dignano, dedicated to San Lorenzo, remembered with this title since 1468, has belonged over time to the dioceses of Foligno, Nocera and Camerino. At the bottom of the right aisle there is a fresco (Deposition of Christ), which bears the date of 1522, and another depicting the Transport of the Sacred House from the Holy Land to Loreto by the angels. One of the side altars bears the date of 1673.
The church also houses a wooden crucifix, in whose honor a procession is held every three years: according to legend it was found by a farmer plowing a field with a pair of oxen, who always knelt in the same spot. The Crucifix is mentioned in the documents of the Diocese of Nocera starting from 1641. After the damage of the earthquake and the restoration of the church, the Crucifix was replaced in its place on July 27, 2008.
Above the entrance door is the church organ. The bell tower housed three bells, of which the intermediate one was restored in 1793: after the restorations they are kept in the basement of the church and have been replaced by three new bells inaugurated on April 28, 2010.
