The Forra dell’Acquasanta is located on the road that goes from Colfiorito towards Macerata, near the town of Bolognola. From the village, you have to go up the mountain towards the Forcella del Fargno, where the climb ends and there is a branch on the left towards the refuge.
After a first part of the path between meadows and ridges, you reach the wood where you need to cross the first two river beds, often swampy or snow-covered, to then reach the third which is the real beginning of the gorge. Once out of the gorge, past the artificial barrier, you always follow the aqueduct until you see the highest part of Bolognola on the other side of the valley. The gorge has few and short jumps, but long approach and exit times. The charm and difficulty are linked to the presence of large snowfields (even many hundreds of meters long) to be overcome by climbing or with an underpass.
